Beachin'

It's that time of year again... beach time!  Will's family and my family fortunately booked houses at the same beach for two weeks in a row!  We spent the first week in Topsail, NC with Will's family and spent another week just a mile down the road with my family!  Life does not get any better than two lazy weeks at the beach.

The weeks ultimately consisted of bocci ball, dizzy bat, laying in the sand, books, potato guns and lots of eating and some drinks.

Unfortunately, now it is time to head back to Junction and get back to the real world.  We're looking forward to being back home and having some sort of schedule, but will definitely miss vacation!!

PTC

Peachtree City, Georgia!  For those of you who have never heard of PTC, it is a small town outside of Atlanta that has more miles of golf cart paths than it does roads.  Everyone rides golf carts around and the town is currently in the running for the "Most Patriotic Small Town".  My family lived there for some time while I was growing up.

Almost every year, my family ventures back to PTC on the 4th of July to see friends, and to enjoy some golf carts, a parade and awesome fireworks!  This year was no exception and I even got to stay behind a few days and help babysit for friends we grew up with (and use to babysit me!) AND go see the Georgia aquarium!!  Unfortunately I did not take many pictures... but here is a little glimpse of our 4th.

Hanging out on the back of a golf cart, one of my favorite places ever!!
Ejoying the paparde!
On our way to the aquarium with Brae!

The Georgia Aquarium was pretty awesome, but definitely did not live up to the high expectations I had.  I'll need to go back another time when it's not so crowded. However, going with Braelyn who is three years old, definitely made the whole trip way more fun and exciting!!

Les Chats

As always, we were on the lookout for some awesome kitty cats while in Europe. We managed to find quiet a few and snapped some quick pictures to share les chats with you!  They were eveywhere!  Especially in Amsterdam.  So here you go...

And last but not least... our cat, Ridley.  We arrived home to find her with a hole in her side.  Apparently she fell out of a tree and received a puncture wound some time.  It later became infected and that's when it was noticed.  She was taken to the vet where they stiched her up, gave her some meds and sent her home with a poor cone around her head.  Here is she is, not very happy. :(  But still lookin' cute!

Wrapping up Europe

After a quick transfer of trains in Paris and then Brussels, we arrived in Amsterdam; home to canals, wooden shoes, Anne Frank, coffeeshops and the infamous red light district.

Our first night was spent wandering around the town... Checking out the red light district and the city streets.

After a good night's rest we woke up to rain... Lots and lots of rain. In order to make the best of the crummy weather, we found the Heineken factory and took a tour, inside!

The next day was beautiful so we wandered to the Anne Frank House, hoping to take a tour. However, the line was wrapped around the block. So we took some pictures and moved on to the Van Gogh museum!

The museum was pretty awesome and really well done. It was amazing to be hanging out with paintings that were over 100 years old and I grew up seeing in art class.

That night we hopped on a canal cruise and floated through the city learning all about the town.

Our last day we wandered and stopped by Rembrandt Square... The square where I lost my camera two years ago :(

Finally it was time to move on to Paris... The last stop on our European tour! The location of our hotel could not have been any more amazing!

We did all the traditional Paris-y things... Even a summersault under the Eiffel Tower, like my mom did as a kid when she traveled to Paris with her family!

Finally it was time to head home and celebrate the 4th of July in Peachtree City, Georgia! (we're a little behind on blog posts) We were sad to say goodbye but ready for a juicy burger and fries :)

Lyon

After 2 weeks in Nice, my parents flew back home and it was time for us to move on towards Amsterdam. Trying to break up the long train ride, we stopped in Lyon, France for a night.

It happened to be Matt's 21st birthday as well! Happy birthday Matt!!

We got off the train and wandered around Lyon looking for our hotel for the night. We finally found it but it was too early to check in, so we grabbed some beer, wine, sandwiches and a nice park to hang out and relax.

Several hours and drinks later we went back to check into our hotel. They promptly told us we would be in room A306 and gave us our key. The hotel was an apartment/hotel, so we wandered through the stairways and hallways, finally finding building A and room 306. I ran in to use the facilities as quick as possible. I quickly realized the bathroom was full of someone else's shampoo and perfume. Hmmmmm. I walked out and found Matt and Will looking around too. We hadn't realized we were renting a room from somebody for the night... How'd we missed that?

As we settled in, we noticed a closet full of clothes...

A laptop on the desk...

A fridge full of food... and to top it off, dirty dishes in the sink...

Hmmmm.... I don't think we were supposed to be here.

We left our bags and worked our way back to the front desk. "Are there supposed to be dirty dishes in the sink", we asked. "hmmmm, no" they replied. They offered to come check out the room and then stared at us blankly as we walked towards building A. Turns out we were supposed to be in B 306 and they had given us the wrong key... The key to someone else's apartment. Whoops! Thank goodness nobody was home when we walked in. We quickly grabbed our bags and switched rooms, but not before taking some pictures to document the mix-up!

We only had one night in Lyon, so we spent it walking around and exploring the roman ruins and the beautiful buildings! The city reminded me a lot of Paris or Barcelona on a smaller scale and it was very crowded.

We woke up early the next morning and said goodbye to Lyon and found our next train towards Amsterdam!
