Rose Hill Rally

On Sunday Chris, Blaine, Tim, & I met up at 6am, piled into the Brown's Cycles van, and went out to run support at the first rest station for the Rose Hill Rally. The rally is a 50k or 100k ride through the farms and fields from GJ to Mack to support St. Marys Hospital.

After some tire pumping and derailieur tuning we closed up shop a tad late around 11ish.  Tim pulled the always popular "I want to ride but cant because ______ told me I had to do _____".  Overused but effective.  So Chris, Blaine, and I set off with grand goals of passing people like whoa.
 See that face?
Chris and Blaine coming off the 'big' climb of the day outside of Highline Lake S.P.

The route took us out to 10 and Q roads, and despite dreams of seeking the elusive intersection of 1 and Z road, we followed the route and continued not passing people.  We eventually caught a couple who turned out to be frequenters of Browns and were having mechanicals so we joined up and road back to the park with them (and got broom wagon-ed along the way).

All in all it was a great day for riding with plenty of memories extensive tan lines had by all.

Bicycle Sunday

Sunday we rode downtown to Main Street Bagels for breakfast.  The trip was enjoyable enough that we decided to keep on riding around an check out the Colorado Riverwalk.  It runs through most of the Grand Valley and their are plans to have it completed within the next year or 2.  It also makes for an excellent way to get to Palisade, aka wine country, just a thought.
Me! In the background you can see Mt Garfield and to the left of it is a lower hill named Mt Lincoln.  So if your keeping track, the only two named peaks on the Bookcliffs here in Junction are named after assassinated presidents, why is this?

After we rode for a couple hours we headed back to town and had lunch at Naggy McGees, an Irish pub.  Then we went back to Main Street Bagels for more cappuccinos before heading home.  mmmmm...

Locked up outside Main Street Bagels.
